Curriculum

At The Learning Tree, we believe that children learn best when they are having fun!  We incorporate literacy, math, science, gross and fine motor skills, and art to offer a well-rounded, age-appropriate learning experience.  We follow the Utah Education Network's Early Childhood Core Standards, so that your child will enter Kindergarten with a solid foundation of learning skills.  Each of our classes will include:
  • Weekly themes based on the core areas of Self, Community, Science & Nature, and Seasons.  Themes include Dinosaurs, Cooking, 5 Senses, Art & Music, Animal Habitats, and many more!
  • Art experiences and projects that explore different styles and mediums.
  • Daily writing and pre-reading activities, focusing on letter recognition and sounds, as well as spelling and writing their name (introduced in 3's and emphasized in 4's).
  • Focus on shapes and colors.
  • Play based learning.
  • Social skills development, including sharing, taking turns, raising hands, and respecting others.
  • Take-Home-Reading program for children who are assessed as ready-to-read (4's class only).
In addition to all that learning, we also include some fun!
  • Daily snack time to replenish their energy stores and teach a few manners, too!
  • Show-and-Tell.
  • Student Spotlights.
  • Birthday celebrations.
  • Class parties to celebrate Halloween, Christmas, and Valentine's Day.
Curriculum and learning activities are adapted from several programs, including Learning Dynamics 4 Weeks to Read, SnapWords, Kindness Curriculum, and others.

Field Trips

All costs associated with field trips are covered by your registration fee.

Learning Portfolios

Throughout the year, we will compile a Learning Portfolio for your child.  Their portfolio will include an ABC book, pictures, and a sampling of your child's work.  This will be presented to them at their graduation ceremony at the end of the school year.
